One Month, BNN Secured 118 Kg Of Crystal Meth And 80 Thousand Ecstasy Pills

JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) succeeded in thwarting three cases of smuggling of several types of narcotics within one month. From the three cases, BNN managed to confiscate 118 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 80,960 ecstasy pills.

The head of the National Narcotics Agency, Komjen Heru Winarko, said that of the three cases eight people had been named suspects. In the first case, four people were named suspects and one of them was a prisoner in the Salemba prison.

In this case, the attempt to smuggle 66.165 kilograms of crystal meth could be thwarted. The suspect's initials A (43) took the crystal methamphetamine using a box car and was disguised as if he was carrying rice.

"The first case that was revealed was on May 28. The location of the arrest was on Jalan Industri Raya, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency. The mode used was hidden in a 30 kilogram sack of rice," Heru said in Jakarta, Thursday, June 18.

Meanwhile, the prisoner with the initials DS is the person who arranged this smuggling. Then, two other suspects, AZ and MS, are guards of a narcotics storage warehouse.

They were both arrested in Medan, North Sumatra, because during the raid on the warehouse located not far from the arrest of suspect A, both of them managed to escape.

"From the warehouse we confiscated 80,960 points of expectation. From the investigation, the suspects AZ and MS have been involved in drug smuggling twice," said Heru.

Disclosure in Riau

Then, in the disclosure of the second case occurred in Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The 20.6 kilograms methamphetamine narcotics were successfully confiscated and two people with the initials AAS (23) and MR (41). Both have been made suspects.

The smuggling of tens of kilograms of crystal methamphetamine was successfully thwarted after a long investigation process. Until finally, information was obtained that said there was an attempt to smuggle using four-wheeled vehicles, on June 13.

"We arrested two suspects while crossing Jalan Bagansiapiapi. The suspects kept the crystal methamphetamine in their car," said Heru.

Furthermore, the third case is still happening around Riau Province. However, this time it took place in Selingsing waters, Dumai. Two suspects, MY and RS, tried to smuggle 32.1 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine using a fishing boat.

They are an international network of narcotics traffickers. This is because tens of kilograms of crystal meth come from Malaysia, which are planned to be brought to Bengkalis Regency.

"The delivery pattern is from ship to ship. So this crystal meth is transferred from one ship to another and later brought to the mainland," said Heru.

In fact, their initial plan was to store tens of kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in a storage warehouse. Later, it will only be distributed to the Pekanbaru area.

Furthermore, said Heru, there were actually three suspects. However, during the chase, one suspect managed to escape. This is because during the chasing process the suspects tried to escape until the ship they were traveling on capsized.

"Previously there were three suspects on the ship but during the chase and the suspects' ship capsized, this one person was not found," concluded Heru.

For his actions, all the suspects in the three cases face the death penalty or life imprisonment. This is because they are suspected by Article 114 paragraph 2, Article 112 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.
