PPKM Level 4 Java-Bali Extended, Places Of Worship May Open 25 Percent Capacity

JAKARTA - The government has extended Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) Level 4 to 2 in Java and Bali until August 16. In this extension, the government allows places of worship to be opened in areas that apply PPKM Level 4.

Previously, places of worship in regencies/cities that implemented PPKM Level 4 were closed and activities were prohibited. Meanwhile, areas that apply PPKM Level 3 and Level 2 are allowed to open places of worship.

"Adjustments at level 4 are also made for places of worship. In the extension start August 10, regencies and cities in the level 4 area can worship with a maximum capacity of 25 percent or a maximum of 20 people", said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in a virtual press conference, Monday, August 9.

In addition to places of worship, the government also allows the opening of malls in four cities that implement PPKM Level 4. The four cities are Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Semarang. However, visitors and employees who will enter the mall must have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

"Only those who have been vaccinated can enter the mall and must use the PeduliLindung application", he said.

The opening of malls in 4 cities that implement PPKM Level 4 is limited to a capacity of 25 percent. In addition, children under 12 years old and seniors over 70 years old are prohibited from entering the mall.

Luhut said the decision to extend the Java-Bali PPKM would be stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs in more detail.
