Called Disobeying The Ombudsman's Findings, Deputy Chairperson Of The KPK: I'm Relaxing Hearing It

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nurul Ghufron denied having defied the findings and corrective actions submitted by the Indonesian Ombudsman regarding the National Insight Test Assessment (TWK).

According to him, the KPK as the reported party may submit objections, and this is in accordance with existing regulations.

"The Ombudsman has provided a channel for the reported party to file an objection in accordance with the RI Ombudsman Regulation Number 38 of 2020," said Ghufron in a written statement received by VOI, Monday, August 9.

Instead, he attacked those who said that the KPK had carried out insubordination were those who did not understand the law and insulted the principle of balance given by the Indonesian Ombudsman.

"KPK does not carry out the procedure, it is not rebellious. How can it be that those who use their procedural rights are called rebels," he said.

"That's why I'm relaxed about hearing it. The accusations of disobedience, humiliation and others I consider like a child who accuses," added Ghufron. As previously reported, the KPK expressed objections and would not carry out any corrective actions submitted by the Indonesian Ombudsman after it was found that maladministration and abuse of authority in TWK implementation process.

In its objection, the KPK considers the Ombudsman unfair in providing its recommendations. The anti-corruption commission also considered that the Ombudsman did not respect their authority in administering the test as a condition for the transfer of their employee status to the State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

As for the four corrective actions delivered by the Ombudsman, namely asking the KPK leadership to continue to transfer the status of Novel Baswedan and 74 other employees who were declared not to have passed the TWK to become State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

Next, the Ombudsman asked the KPK not to use TWK as the basis for the dismissal of 75 employees. Then, the anti-corruption commission was asked to carry out official education regarding national insight for employees who were terminated because they did not pass the TWK.

Finally, the KPK was asked to explain to its employees about the consequences of implementing TWK in the form of information or legal documents.
