Dor! Police Shoot 1 Thief Of COVID Ambulance Car In Rejang Lebong, 6 Of His Colleagues Are Still Being Chased

BENGKULU - Rejang Lebong Resort Police (Polres) officers, Bengkulu, incapacitated one of the seven suspected perpetrators of the robbery of COVID-19 ambulance officers who acted in the area on July 3, 2021.

Rejang Lebong Police Chief, AKBP Puji Prayitno, said the arrested perpetrators were DS (21), a resident of Tanjung Aur Village, Sindang Kelingi District. DS has been a fugitive from the police for a month.

"The perpetrator was arrested Friday morning, at around 04.00 WIB. He was arrested by a joint team while hiding in a garden in Tanjung Aur Village, Sindang Kelingi District," said Police Chief Puji at the Rejang Lebong Police Headquarters, Antara, Friday, August 6.

The gang of perpetrators robbed two ambulance officers from PSC 119 Rejang Lebong after returning home with COVID-19 patients.

Suspect DS had to be paralyzed by the combined officers of the Police Opsnal Rejang Lebong and the Padang Ulak Tanding Police (PUT) officers with hot lead because when they were about to be arrested they resisted and tried to escape.

"We urge the other six perpetrators to immediately surrender so that they can create conducive conditions for the community so that they can work calmly and invite investment into Rejang Lebong," he explained.

The robbery carried out by seven perpetrators was experienced by two ambulance officers PSC 119 Rejang Lebong, plate BD 9177 KY, on Saturday morning, August 3, at around 01.00 WIB. The location of the robbery is on the Curup-Lubuklinggau Cross Road, Gardu Hamlet, Curup Head Village, Binduriang District.

As a result of this incident, the ambulance driver and nurse for the COVID-19 ambulance had to lose two mobile phones, medical equipment and Rp150,000 in cash.
