Indonesian Police Arrest FBI Fugitive Who Is Also A Pedophile

JAKARTA - The flight of a foreign national (WNA) from the United States, Russ Albert Medlin, ended after four years as a fugitive from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He was arrested by the Indonesian National Police.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus, said that this interpol fugitive was arrested at his rented house in the Brawijaya area, Jakarta, South, on Sunday, June 14. His identity as a fugitive was revealed after investigators traced his background.

"After investigating it, it turned out that the Interpol fugitive was based on an Interpol red notice," Yusri said in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 16.

With the discovery of Russ Albert Medlin's identity as a fugitive, continued Yusri, investigators immediately coordinated with the National Police's International Relations Division (Divhubinter) to communicate with Interpol.

From the results of this coordination, Russ Albert Medlin has been a fugitive in a bitcoin investment fraud case since 2016. Meanwhile, his name is listed as a suspect in a fraud case dated November 10, 2019.

"The one concerned is a recidivist of bitcoin stock investment fraud mode. He is using the fraudulent mode of investing in bitcoin stocks and operating a bitclub network," said Yusri.

Yusri explained that the results of his coordination with Interpol revealed that the total money he received from his fraud reached Rp. 11 trillion.

Child sexual intercourse

The arrest of Russ Albert Medlin began when the police received reports of suspicious activity. Because, from the rental house of the fugitive FBI, it is often seen that there are women who are underage.

With this suspicion, investigators observed the activities at the house. Until finally, he succeeded in examining three women who often came in and out of the house.

As a result, it is known that they are women hired by Russ Albert Medlin to satisfy lust. In fact, it was also revealed that during the last three months, this man from the United States often hired the services of underage children.

"Then he did some deepening to the person concerned. It is true that he often goes in and out of underage girls and is paid Rp. 2 million per person," said Yusri.

Then, from the investigation also emerged the fact that Russ Albert Medlin was a pedophile. Because, when having sexual intercourse, all underage women are asked to capture the activity in the form of videos and photos.

In fact, the result of coordination with Interpol, Russ Albert Medlin was a recidivist of child abuse cases in 2006 and 2008. In addition, while hiring underage women, fugitives always go through a woman with the initials A who is currently still being hunted for her existence.

"Every time he does it he asks to be photographed on the video. There is a possibility that he is a pedophile," said Yusri.

With the case of child sexual intercourse, Russ Albert Medlin was charged with Article 76 junto article 81 of law number 35 of 2014 concerning amendments to law number 23 of 2002 concerning child protection. Thus, the FBI fugitive faces a maximum prison term of 15 years.

Indonesian Law

In addition, the Director of the Directorate of Special Criminal Recess of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Roma Hutajulu, said that Russ Albert Medlin would still be processed according to the laws in force in Indonesia. This was done while waiting for the results of coordination with the FBI regarding extradition.

Extradition is the process of a suspect detained in another country who is then handed over to the suspect's home country for trial according to the agreement concerned.

"We are still waiting for the extradition process, we are coordinating and we are still in the process of legal relations carried out by the person concerned in Indonesia, in this case the intercourse of children brought to age," said Roma.

Then, related to how or how easy Russ Albert Medlin has been repeatedly in and out of Indonesia, said Roma, because this man from the United States uses a tourist visa. In fact, every time he comes to Indonesia this man uses a different passport number.

"He used another passport number. Nantin we checked the connection between the passport number used in the context of the FBI fugitive or fugitive," concluded Roma.
