Jakarta Mall Opened, Don't Be Careless Supervisory Protocols

JAKARTA - Malls and shopping centers have reopened since yesterday, June 15. All COVID-19 prevention protocols, such as regulating distance, as well as providing hand sanitizer facilities that have been arranged and provided.

However, the supervision of all activities in the mall cannot stop there. Because, it is undeniable that there is euphoria from the people who have long wanted to visit the mall during the transitional PSBB period. It is feared that excessive public enthusiasm can override health protocols.

DKI DPRD Commission A member Wibi Adrino said managers must obey the COVID-19 protocol in the mall. Because, if supervision is relaxed, there is a possibility that a new virus cluster will emerge. This is a reflection of the many traditional market traders infected with the corona virus.

"Consistency in implementing the health protocol cannot be fully left to the government. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has made regulations and must ensure that the regulations run perpendicularly. Don't make them violate," Wibi told reporters, Monday, June 15.

Wibi asked the DKI Provincial Government to take firm action against managers who do not comply with the rules on limiting activities in the mall. "Do not hesitate to close again. The provincial government should not submit to naughty mall entrepreneurs," he said.

Likewise, the chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetio Edi Marsudi, asked the mall manager to remind the public not to bring children and the elderly into the mall. The reason is, they are people who are vulnerable to contracting COVID-19.

"I suggest that Jakarta residents do not bring children and the elderly first. I also emphasize this to the manager to classify visitors. If there are, do not enter. Tell them humanely," said Prasetio.

Moreover, he said, a number of entertainment facilities for children such as play areas and cinemas have not yet opened. Currently the shops inside the mall can only serve visitors looking for foodstuffs, pharmacies, restaurants and a number of other outlets.

"Therefore, there must be assertiveness here for the health of our children and all of us," he said.

Pemprov supervision in each mall

Head of Satpol PP DKI, Arifin, stated that his party has placed two officers at each mall in Jakarta to monitor compliance with the implementation of health protocols in the shopping center.

"Internal supervision will be carried out by the management. Meanwhile, we will monitor whether the protocol is implemented or not. For example, whether people come in have their hands prepared, then have their body temperature checked," said Arifin.

Arifin admitted that not all malls have the same area. Therefore, Arifin will request assistance from the police to monitor compliance with operational protocols in major malls.

"Of the existing number, it will be added again, as directed by the leadership. What is clear, from the Satpol PP there are two people, there will be others. Wait for the instructions," he said.

COVID-19 prevention protocol in malls

The Governor of DKI, Anies Baswedan, obliged the manager and shop owner in the mall to give a sign as the implementation of safety guarding for visitors to all facilities in the mall.

In addition, shop and restaurant owners in the mall must simulate the capacity of visitors who enter ahead of the operation. This aims to take into account the application of maintaining a safe distance between visitors.

"That's the basic principle that must be followed. Because shopping centers have different designs, the flow of entry and exit is different, so each shopping center translates according to its design," said Anies.

Anies also requires mall managers to reduce passenger capacity to 50 percent. Later, officers inside the mall are advised to count the number of visitors at each entrance.

If the mall manager is still violating the specified capacity restrictions. If you have been reprimanded twice but still violating it, it will be temporarily closed.

In addition, the manager must check the body temperature of each visitor, both at the entrance and parking access. If the visitor's body temperature is above 37.5 degrees Celsius, they will be prohibited from entering the building.

"This means that there must be preparations because we are aware of the stopping of 3 months of activities due to disease outbreaks. Therefore, when it operates, it (the mall) must be able to provide a sense of security to visitors and to those who work," concluded Anies.
