JAKARTA - Management of the Islamic Student Association (HMI) will take to the streets to protest at the Jakarta Palace. HMI is angry with all the failures of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to lead Indonesia.

"We are disgusted by Jokowi's failure", said Head of Higher Education, Student Affairs and Youth, Executive Board of the Islamic Student Association led by Abdul Muis Amiruddin, R Hilman Bimantika confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, August 4 night.

The HMI demonstration will be held on Friday, August 6. The plan is that the mass action will take a long march from the HMI Secretariat office to the Palace.

Hilman ensured that the HMI demonstration notification letter had been submitted to the Polda Metro Jaya. However, according to him, it is necessary to confirm whether or not the demo notification letter is valid.

"Tomorrow I'll try to make sure", he said.

The HMI demonstration carried the big theme of Jokowi's failure. Not only about the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Jokowi is also considered by HMI to have failed on all fronts, including the issue of the erosion of freedom of expression.

"Jokowi's failure in handling COVID-19 in 2020 can convince the new normal, but there are presidential inconsistencies. Now it is limited again by PPKM (Restrictions on Community Activities), a term that in simple language limits people's movement, whereas the middle and lower class people must have movement to meet their needs", he continued.

It is estimated that 250 people participated in the HMI demonstration at the Palace. Hilman ensured that this demo did not rely on external donors.

“These donors are from the management who are stifled by the conditions in Indonesia, we are working together, jointly. Nothing from external", said Hilman.
