Vaccines Are Running Low, Khofifah Sends A Letter To Minister Of Health And Minister Of Home Affairs Ask To Accelerate Vaccine Distribution To East Java

SURABAYA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indra Parawansa sent a letter to the Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and also the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian. The goal is for the central government to accelerate the distribution of vaccines, considering that vaccine stocks in East Java are running low.

"We are still waiting for the vaccine to arrive from the center", said Khofifah, in Surabaya, Wednesday, August 4.

Khofifah said the achievement of the first dose of vaccination in East Java currently reaches 7.7 million people. Meanwhile, the number of East Java residents who have been vaccinated with the second dose has reached 3.3 million people, meaning that there are around 4.2 million people who have not been vaccinated and are due.

"Hopefully it can be supported soon. So we can give the second dose that is due", she said.

On the other hand, Khofifah said that her party is currently continuing to aggressively encourage vaccination for teenagers, especially students aged over 12 to 17 years. However, his party is constrained by the availability of vaccines in East Java, reaching around 900 thousand doses.

"This is our homework. What has been running (vaccination) is Health HR for the third dose and people with disabilities. For those who have close associations with disability associations, they can access vaccinations", she said.

Meanwhile, data from the Ministry of Health stated that as of Monday, August 2, 2021, the first dose of vaccination in East Java had reached 7.643.691 residents or 24.02 percent of the vaccination target of 31.826.206 people. Meanwhile, the second dose of vaccination has reached 3.205.574 residents or equal to 10.07 percent of the vaccination target.

Of the 31.826.206 vaccination targets, consisting of 189.907 health workers, 2.070.774 public service officers, 4.335.549 elderly, 21.643.835 general and vulnerable people, and 3.586.141 aged between 12 to 17 years old.

East Java was recorded as having the highest rank for the second dose of vaccination. Followed by West Java with 2.901.213 people, DKI Jakarta with 2.874.218 people, Central Java with 2.865.357 people, and Bali 898.723 people.
