PALEMBANG - The Traffic Police Unit at Polrestabes Palembang, South Sumatra, has closed several roads in the city that have the potential to cause crowds related to PPKM level 4.

The roads that will be closed include the fifth batch of 45, Jalan POM IX DPRD of South Sumatra, Diponegoro intersection, the Santa Maria area, Bukit Besar, Radial, Pasar 26 Ilir.

Then the Bakul Sunda, Banyan Peat, New Style, Colonel Atmo, Linda Cosmetics, Lieutenant Sayuti Cinde Roundabout, Lorong Abdul Roni. Head of Traffic Police for Palembang Police Commissioner Endro Ariwibowo said the road closure applies to private cars starting at 19.00-22.00 WIB until 2 August next.

"The curfew rule applies to private cars, except for logistics vehicles that can still pass," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, July 30.

According to him, the closure of the road segment is to suppress community mobility which allows the spread of COVID-19 and to eliminate criminal acts in the city of Palembang.

In addition, the officers also tightened and expanded the inter-regency/city boundaries covering the Palembang City-Banyuasin City border by establishing checkpoints at Karya Jaya-KM12 Terminal, Talang Jambe, and Plaju.

Furthermore, the border area of Palembang City-Ogan Ilir Regency checkpoints in the Jakabaring, Dekranasda and Keramasan areas.

"Officers will check the results of the antigen swab test and vaccination certificates for each driver of four-wheeled vehicles or more," he said.

He hopes that with the enactment of this rule, the spread of COVID-19 in Palembang City will slow down while creating traffic order for the community.
