SURABAYA - Healthy houses or isolation places for residents exposed to COVID-19 have officially started operating in each kelurahan in the City of Surabaya, East Java.

"I thank the ranks of the Surabaya City Government, sub-district and village heads, along with all Surabaya residents. This is an effort for all of us," said Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi during the symbolic opening of a healthy house at an apple at the Surabaya City Hall. , July 28.

The Mayor of Surabaya also symbolically handed over assistance in the form of rice, masks, and oximeters to the sub-district head to then be distributed to every healthy house in their respective areas.

After carrying out the apple, Eri Cahyadi and the Surabaya Forkopimda staff then visited one of the healthy houses in Airlangga Village, Gubeng District. There, he saw firsthand the readiness of the infrastructure available in the healthy house.

"The establishment of healthy houses in each kelurahan aims to protect residents in each kelurahan from the transmission of COVID-19," he said.

Eri Cahyadi gave an example, when in one village there are residents who are exposed to COVID-19 and have no symptoms, they can be directed to healthy homes for independent isolation, while residents who have moderate symptoms will be treated to the Hajj Dormitory.

Meanwhile, residents who have severe symptoms will be immediately treated at a hospital, be it a regional general hospital (RSUD) or an emergency hospital.

"This is not a place for ambulances and not a place for sick people. But when in this village there are people who are exposed to COVID-19, but do not have symptoms, they can be invited to a healthy home. So that residents around the village can be safe," he said.

Eri Cahyadi explained, with the existence of healthy houses in each kelurahan, the city government could immediately separate and provide treatment to residents who were exposed to COVID-19. So that the transmission of COVID-19 in the village can be prevented.

"We can control it, we can give medicine to get well quickly. So that residents around this village will be safe," he said.

According to Eri Cahyadi, currently around 140 urban villages have healthy houses in the city of Surabaya. However, this healthy house is only reserved for residents in the area who are exposed to COVID-19.

For this reason, said Eri Cahyadi, his party hopes that residents who still refuse to have healthy homes can understand the benefits of the centralized isolation area.

"I believe with humility, the people of Surabaya will definitely fight together for the interests of their respective villages," he said.
