JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 rocked the Pacitan area, East Java. The impact of the Pacitan earthquake is not yet known.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the Pacitan earthquake occurred at 23.21 WIB, Tuesday, July 27. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km, at coordinates 8.99 South Latitude and 111.40 East Longitude.

The epicenter of the earthquake is known to be 95 km southeast of Pacitan, East Java.

Reported by Antara, the earthquake vibrations were felt around the Gunung Kidul and Kepanjen areas on a Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) II scale, Tulungagung, Trenggalek, Blitar, Karangkates, Nganjuk on a III MMI scale, and Pacitan on a III to IV MMI scale.

No potential tsunami was reported due to the earthquake, but BMKG appealed to the public to be alert for possible aftershocks.
