Dozens Of Houses And Health Centers In Sergai, North Sumatra, Were Damaged By Strong Winds

MEDAN - Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds that hit parts of Serdang Bedagai (Sergai) Regency, North Sumatra, damaged 52 houses. A number of public place facilities were also damaged.

Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Sergai Henry Suharto said the rain accompanied by strong winds occurred on Thursday, July 23.

"They are in Tebing Tinggi District, Sipispis District, Serbajadi District, Dolok Masihul District, and Pegajahan District," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, July 24.

He detailed the number of damaged houses in Tebing Tinggi District, precisely in Kutabaru Village there are four houses and one elementary school building unit.

Then in Sipispis District there are 21 houses and public facilities, one unit of puskesmas and waqf substation.

Furthermore, in Serbajadi District there are two houses. One house in Pegajahan District and 24 houses in Dolok Masihul District were damaged.

There were no casualties in the incident. Meanwhile, the owners of the houses are currently evacuating to the homes of their relatives and neighbors.

It has also built a public kitchen for residents whose houses were hit by the disaster.

"We are making public kitchens for disaster victims, using village facilitators and post. We also continue to conduct surveys and collect data on residents affected by this disaster," said Henry.
