Central Java - The Regional Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID) of Central Java stated that broadcasters need to address child-friendly broadcasts as a form of concern for the child care movement.

Central Java KPID Broadcast Content Coordinator Ari Yusmindarsih said broadcasting media still needed to be encouraged to be more concerned with the child protection movement. Because, the broadcast content still shows a lot of impressions that are not good for the psychological and mental development of children.

Ari said broadcasters need to be consistent in presenting child-friendly programs, not just broadcasting just before the commemoration of Children's Day.

"We still often encounter programs with shades of violence, sexuality, and supernatural mystique during children's broadcast hours. Journalistic broadcasts should also be more careful in broadcasting children as news subjects," he said in Semarang quoted from Antara, Friday, July 23.

The results of monitoring the contents of Central Java KPID broadcasts during the first semester of 2021 resulted in a total of 783 findings of potential violations, 36 percent of which were related to children.

"There are several forms of dominant findings, namely the content of violence, sexuality, and mystique at the time of broadcasting children, news about children as perpetrators and victims of crime not disguised, there are still dangerous scenes played by children, and adult programs involving children," he said.

Chairman of the Central Java KPID Muhammad Aulia encouraged broadcasters to be more sensitive to the interests of child protection.

"We hope that broadcasting can be a means of education for children. Apart from entertaining, it also provides examples of positive behavior that can be imitated," he said.

According to him, high-intensity child-friendly shows are feared to form a bad personality and interfere with children's psychological development.
