TNI Commander: Outskirts Of Jakarta Become The Focus Of Vaccination Attacks

JAKARTA - Areas on the outskirts of DKI Jakarta will be the focus of the TNI and Polri's COVID-19 vaccination activities.

TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto said the TNI would come directly to these areas to pursue the target of 70 percent special vaccination in the Jakarta area before the commemoration of the 76th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2021,

Hadi explained that the TNI and Polri had agreed to implement a "pick up the ball" strategy or hold direct vaccinations in residential areas on the outskirts of Jakarta, because the percentage of people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 is still quite low.

"Especially our target is the suburbs of Jakarta, because most of the residents are still busy with activities or they are carrying out self-isolation," Hadi said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 22.

The TNI Commander directly observed mass vaccination activities in three places, namely Gambir, Sawah Besar, and Tanah Abang. At least 3,600 people are vaccinated per day in these three locations.

TNI Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto directly observed the vaccination activity with the National Police Chief Gen. Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. TNI Ganip Warsito.

Not only reviewing the implementation of vaccinations, the TNI Commander together with the National Police Chief and the BNPB Head also directly monitored the delivery of Government social assistance to residents affected by the rules for the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

In Sawah Besar, Jakarta, the TNI Commander took the time to talk with Trisno, one of the social assistance recipients. Every day, Trisno works selling instant noodles around in several areas in the capital.

"I thank you for the assistance provided by the government," said Trisno to the TNI Commander.

The TNI Commander also expressed hope that the social assistance could reduce the burden on the community during the implementation of Emergency PPKM.

"Residents in carrying out their daily activities must adhere to health protocols and are required to wear masks, wash their hands diligently, and keep their distance," said the TNI Commander when meeting residents.

A total of 1,500 social assistance packages were handed over to residents in three locations visited by the TNI Commander, namely Gambir, Sawah Besar, and Tanah Abang.
