JAKARTA - The 2021 MHT Journalistic Award event is still facing the biggest obstacle, namely the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Chairperson of PWI Jakarta, Sayid Iskandarsyah, emphasized that this annual event would still be held as planned, on August 25, 2021.

"We are still on the track, there has been no change. However, considering the current conditions, we are still considering what will happen in the future," said Sayid Iskandarsyah, chairman of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Jaya, Wednesday, July 21.

Sayid explained that he, together with the Daily Executive of PWI Jaya and the organizing committee of the Mohammad Husni Thamrin (MHT) Awards, will continue to coordinate with the Jakarta Discominfotik ranks regarding the holding of the 47-2021 MHT Awards. "In essence, we agree that the 47-2021 MHT Awards should still be held this year," said Sayid Iskandarsyah.

On a separate occasion, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, hinted that the award ceremony for the winners of the 47-2021 MHT Awards could be held virtually. Last year, the awarding of the winners of the 46-2020 MHT Awards was carried out offline and virtual from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Pattern Room.

The MHT Awards were held from a collaboration between PWI Jaya and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. This is a journalistic work competition related to the dynamics of capital city development. For the 2021 MHT Awards, a team of judges led by Irmanto, deputy chairman of the PWI Jaya organization, has screened and assessed journalistic works published in the period June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021. "We received around 500 items from all categories that were contested," said Irmanto, proud.

There are seven categories contested. Namely, Text Journalism, Photo Journalism, Video Journalism from Terrestrial Television Stations, Video Journalism from Streaming Television Mass Media, Audio Journalism from Radio, Infographic Journalism from both print and online media, and Editorials from both print and online media.
