JAKARTA - Head of the West Java Provincial Education Office, Dewi Sartika, stated that the implementation of the 2020/2021 school year remains with the distance learning mechanism (PJJ) and is not carried out face-to-face meeting at schools.

Implementation of the 2020/2021 school year in the West Java SMA / SMK / SLB education units will begin in the third week of July 2020 or Monday (13/7/20), in accordance with the provisions of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud).

"The decision was taken after considering a number of things, such as the Ministry of Education and Culture Circular and the direction of the COVID-19 Task Force, both central and provincial," said Dewi as quoted from the West Java Provincial Government website, Thursday, June 4.

Previously, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said the education sector could not be opened in the near future. He said, the West Java provincial government estimates that the opening of the education sector will occur in January 2021.

"For education, I say it has not been opened yet, it is still being discussed. The discourse that comes up later in January (2021) is what we can most account for. We need time and must not sacrifice the children. But if there is a decision not in January, we will convey it in a timely manner. specifically, "said Ridwan, Wednesday, June 3.

Teacher's point of view

The West Java provincial government plan has been responded positively by the teaching staff. Deputy Secretary General of the Federation of Indonesian Teachers' Unions (Wasekjen FSGI) Satriawan Salim said this plan was very good for teaching staff in terms of health. This is because they do not need to leave their homes and endanger themselves with the potential to contract COVID-19.

Not without reason, this is because it refers to data from the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) which proposes face-to-face learning activities be postponed until the end of December 2020. However, for six months until the discourse period took effect, the concept of distance learning (PJJ) was still applied. .

"If Ridwan Kamil chooses the same option (opening the education sector in January 2021) we agree," said Satriawan to VOI, Thursday, November 4.

He added, when the West Java Provincial Education Office opened the education sector, it needed to prepare better guidelines related to the teaching and learning process and standard health protocols. So, when education was opened, the teaching staff did not feel afraid in carrying out their duties.

"For me there must be strict health protocols, keep using the new normal method, keep using masks, keep washing your hands, and then keep your distance. Schools must provide more sinks and hand sanitizers," said Satriawan.

"Furthermore, implementation instructions and technical instructions are very important for schools, yes, for teachers to act in accordance with the guidelines. So that the direction is clear, including the health protocol," said Satriawan.

The point of view of the pupil

The opening of the education sector in early 2021 received a negative response from the side of children as students. The reason is, this makes the student's stress period longer. During the implementation of PJJ, the level of stress in children increases due to piling up school work.

In addition, PJJ makes children stay at home too long and do not socialize with the outside world. This also makes children's stress levels increase. Then, the influence of parents who cannot manage and educate their children during PJJ also increases children's stress.

"Children will be more stressed if their parents experience stress as well. Especially if their parents are confused about what to do at home and what can be given to their children," said Rose Mini, a lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Indonesia, Rose Mini Agoes Salim.

According to Rose, the concept of distance learning must also be filled with certain entertainments. That way, the stress level in children will be reduced. In addition, the learning material will be easily digested by children and of course it will be more effective.

"So in essence there must be learning from schools so that parents can be helped," concluded Rose Mini.
