Thief With Coffee Mixed Drug Mode Arrested By Police

JAKARTA - The police arrested five perpetrators of the theft case with the mode of giving coffee drinks mixed with drugs to the victims.

"We arrested the perpetrators in the theft case by weighting," said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Azis Andriansyah as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 14.

Of the five perpetrators, two of them are women with the initials M and E who are the brains of the case.

Both were arrested on July 6, 2021 in the Cempaka Putih area, Jakarta, after the police conducted an investigation since May 2021.

He explained that the two suspects were recidivist cases of motor vehicle theft and embezzlement but with different modes.

They then meet again in March 2021 to run the action until early July 2021.

While the other three suspects are men with the initials T, E and M who sell stolen goods.

Azis explained that the criminal's brain, namely M, was looking for the victim's target through a message based on the MiChat application using a pseudonym.

In carrying out the action, M invites the victim to do coffee business and the lure of dating.

After intensive communication, perpetrator M, assisted by E, then met at a certain place, usually at a hotel or inn.

"After meeting in the hotel room, then talking a bit and being offered coffee, it turned out that the coffee contained an anesthetic," added Azis.

After the victim was unconscious, the perpetrator then left the victim with the victim's personal belongings including wallet, cell phone and motor vehicle.

The perpetrators, he continued, carried out these criminal acts in eight places since March 2021, but the police reports included four incidents.
