Health Workers Are Injected With The Third Vaccine, COVID-19 Task Force: The Public Twice Is Enough

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said that various countries had started to carry out the third dose of vaccination as an immunity booster in the face of the pandemic.

Indonesia has also started to carry out the third dose of vaccination. However, Wiku emphasized that the booster with vaccine mixing is currently only done for health workers.

"Currently, the Indonesian government plans to inject a third dose of booster to health workers who are considered to have the highest risk of transmission, both because of the intensity and location of the activity, which has a very high transmission rate, namely health care facilities," Wiku said in a Youtube video broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday, July 13. .

However, Wiku asked the public to understand that the practice of the third vaccination does not need to be carried out to the general public. Therefore, the public does not need to increase the dose of vaccination through individual paid vaccines.

"For now, in general, twice the vaccine dose is enough for the general public to form individual immunity, so people are advised not to mix vaccines or add booster doses on their own and even without health supervision," said Wiku.

The most important thing, continued Wiku, is the distribution of vaccinations that is even and equitable nationally. However, Wiku warns that vaccination will not be perfect if it is not followed by other interventions.

"Interventions are such as controlling mobility and community activities as well as high compliance with health protocols. All of these intervention arrangements are summarized in national policies, namely Emergency PPKM and Mikor PPKM, which we are currently implementing together," he said.
