Gibran Increases Vaccination Targets In Solo To 10 Thousand Residents Per Day

SOLO - Surakarta Mayor, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, has again increased the vaccination target in Solo City, Central Java so that group immunity in the area is immediately achieved.

"Yes, according to the order of the Chief of Police and the Commander of the Indonesian National Police (Police chief and TNI Commander on their visit to Solo, ed.), August is fast, it's over. Yesterday, it was targeted at 10,000/day with the Chief of Police", he said after reviewing the acceleration of vaccination activities at Solo Paragon Mall, Monday, July 12.

Previously, Gibran targeted vaccination in Solo in one day to reach a minimum of 5,000 residents.

Gibran said the acceleration was carried out by adding vaccination locations, including at the Solo Paragon Mall shopping center, Surakarta City Hall, and traveling around sub-district offices.

Although reluctant to mention the exact number, he ensured that the current stock of vaccines in Solo was in a safe condition so that it would not interfere with giving vaccines to the public.

"The stock is abundant, 'no' problem", he said.

In the mass vaccination activity, which is the result of a collaboration between the Surakarta City Government and Yakkum, it is targeted that 10,000 participants will receive the vaccine. Expert Staff of the Yakkum (Christian Foundation for Public Health) Health Services Directorate, Julita Ruli Titisari, said the vaccination target is 400 targets a day.

"This activity starts from August 12-10, 2021. We have opened full registration immediately, but in the field, we are screening. Maybe the community is so 'aware', some do not meet the criteria, there are those who are 17 years old who have registered, some are outside the Solo ID card", she said.

One of the participants, Desti Ratnasari, said she was enthusiastic about participating in the mass vaccination so that group immunity would be achieved immediately.

"So that the economy will also improve soon. Moreover, I am now working in a factory, I'm shifting", she said.

According to her, this is better than having to be laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It's better to 'oglang' (made alternately), right? 50 percent of those who enter", said this resident of the Pajang Village.
