Reveals The Obstacles If The House Of Representatives Is Turned Into A COVID-19 Emergency Hospital, Sufmi Dasco Proposes A Building Around Parliament

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said that his party did not object to the proposal that the courtyard of the MPR/DPR/DPD building complex be used as an emergency hospital for COVID-19 patients.

"We welcome the proposal. We have no objections," said Dasco at the DPR building, Monday, July 12.

However, when he and other members of the DPR followed up on the proposal by directly observing several locations or rooms for treatment, problems were found.

For example, patient beds that cannot be put in the elevator, many rooms are soundproof, the air circulation does not meet the standards and there are several rooms that must be dismantled before being used.

Dasco said that one of the proposed rooms for the treatment room is the plenary meeting room on the third floor, Nusantara II Building, DPR. However, the plenary room only has 1 lift to enter the bed.

"There's only one elevator, it's not enough to put a bed in. Then the plenary room is not flat. The construction is declining, so it's a bit difficult to fall down on the bed," said the leader of the DPR for the Coordination of Finance.

According to Dasco, what could be used as a treatment room is the football field in the DPR with a size of 80×90 meters. However, the field can only be built for emergency tents.

"Friends can judge technically it will be possible or not. Maybe what's left of the entire area that was originally intended to be used, maybe what's left that allows it to be used is a field measuring 80x90 and of course this can't be made per level, it's just tents emergency," he explained.

In addition to the treatment room, continued Dasco, bathroom facilities and other infrastructure must also be considered if you want to use the field.

"Here, we also think about how the bathroom is, how it's not just the treatment, where the doctor is, water electricity and others. So, is this also technically efficient or not using the 80x90 one," said the Gerindra Party politician.

Not a parliament complex, Dasco assessed that there are still many buildings around the DPR that can be used for the COVID-19 Emergency Hospital.

"Meanwhile, around the DPR, there are still many places that can actually be used for emergency hospitals, for example. There are several buildings that can be used," said Dasco.

This, continued Dasco, because it is not possible for the DPR building to be transformed into a COVID-19 Emergency Hospital.

"Friends have seen the technical review directly and also of course can draw conclusions whether it is possible or not," said Dasco.
