The victim, who was transferred from the Talu Prison in West Pasaman, hanged himself using a sarong. "The victim is an inmate with a murder case with a sentence of 16 years and nine months with a remaining sentence of 14 years," he said.

The Bukittinggi Police then processed the crime scene at the Biaro Prison and then took the victim's body to the Bukittinggi Hospital. "Furthermore, it is communicated to the victim's family for an autopsy if needed according to the family's request," he said.

The victim was previously known to have had no other problems during his sentence and had only been treated once with a history of hernia.
