Hospital Occupancy Rate In Solo Reaches 95 Percent Due To Spike In COVID-19 Cases

SOLO - The occupancy rate of all hospitals in Solo City has so far reached 95 percent following the high number of COVID-19 cases.

"Currently there are 1,063 beds occupied," said Head of the Surakarta City Health Service (DKK) Siti Wahyuningsih as quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 8.

According to him, the step of converting patient beds by hospitals is not easy considering the availability of human resources (HR), in this case health workers, must also be considered. In addition, he said, which is no less important is the operational costs.

"If the hospital has extraordinary enthusiasm, but if the community does not comply, the cases will not decrease," said Siti.

Meanwhile, regarding the tents installed in a number of hospital yards, according to him, to anticipate that patients queuing can be protected.

"The tent is my assumption so that there are no (patients) running out (abandoned) in the overhang," he said.

He invited the hospital if he wanted to submit the need for tents to the Surakarta City Government.

"We still have stock, hospitals that need it please take it. So far, seven hospitals have been installed. However, as soon as there are tents, the community immediately arrives, this also creates a dilemma for the hospital. To add tents but the staff is 'no'," he said.

Siti appealed to the public not to come to the hospital if not in an emergency situation.

"People, if 'no' is very important, 'no need' to go to the hospital, including if the patient is able to go home, he should go home immediately," he said.
