It's Not A Blocking Scheme That Causes Traffic Jams, But A Stubborn Community That Is The 'trigger'

JAKARTA - The blocking scheme during the Implementation of the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) has been cited by many as the main cause of congestion and buildup.

At the beginning of the implementation of the scheme, all the blocking points were jammed. Even the worst happened at the partition point in the Lenteng Agung and Kalimalang areas.

However, the Kapolda Metro Jaya and the Pangdam Jaya unanimously denied this assumption. They say the cause of traffic jams is a stubborn society.

Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran said the recalcitrant community was the main cause. Because, if they obey the rules by staying at home, traffic jams will not occur.

"Don't reverse the way of thinking, don't say that isolation causes traffic jams. People who don't need to go out are the ones who create traffic jams," said Inspector General Fadil to reporters, Wednesday, July 7.

Therefore, Inspector General Fadil asked the public to educate each other about Emergency PPKM. This is because traffic jams have a huge impact on health workers.

They had problems on their way. In fact, at a time when the number of COVID-19 transmissions is high, health workers are urgently needed to treat patients.

"So please educate the public, convey to the community that the traffic jams are those who shouldn't go out, instead they come out, causing traffic jams and preventing health workers from passing through," said Inspector General Fadil.

Based on the results of his observations of 10 public transportation passengers, only one person met the classification in the Emergency PPKM rules. The rest, excluding workers in essential and critical sectors.

"So the point is not to block out traffic jams and crowds. There are still a lot of people who don't have an interest who come out. So don't turn it around," said Inspector General Fadil.

Similarly, the Commander of the Jaya Regional Military Command Maj. Gen. Mulyo Aji said that the implementation of the isolation scheme had to be carried out because Jakarta's conditions were very severe from the spread of COVID-19. However, some people do not seem to care about the rules and policies that are made.

They still choose to leave the house for reasons of work. But don't think about the crazy spread of COVID-19.

"What was conveyed earlier, why did we block out even more traffic jams. Now we are back, why is there an emergency PPKM, emergency PPKM because of the COVID-19 emergency land condition, then, one of us is limiting mobility," said Major General Mulyo Aji.

In addition, the Pangdam also delivered a somewhat sarcastic statement. He mentioned a few people who are actually looking for trouble in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The reason is that when the spread of COVID-19 is getting higher, there are still those who try to enter Jakarta. Even though it has been banned for the sake of health and the common good.

"Now if they come here, we don't limit them, we know that DKI is the one with the most problems, then we go back, who causes problems who want to enter or are we the ones who block it?" Commander said.

In fact, the Military Commander said that hundreds of patients who enter the Wisma Atlet Hospital every day are employees from various companies.

For that reason, a partition is applied and companies that are outside the essential and critical sectors are asked not to operate temporarily.

"Now the question is, what impact does it have on us, I am the one who manages the RSDC at Wisma Atlet, they come in and never tell me that I am from company A, B, C, D but they are generally employees sent by companies. Where, generally we are the government who told to bear it. So, behind the words, the point is let's reduce activities, let's reduce activities, "said Major General Mulyo.

At the end of his statement, the Commander asked the community to help each other to make the Emergency PPKM successful. Thus, Indonesia, especially Jakarta, quickly emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic.
