Head Of Vaccine Clinical Trials From Bio Farma, Dr. Novilia Sjafri, Dies Of Exposure To COVID-19

BANDUNG - The head of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial from Bio Farma as well as an academic from Padjadjaran University, Dr. Novilia Sjafri Bachtiar, died of COVID-19 infection.

Head of the Unpad Public Communication Office, Dandi Supriadi, said the deceased died on Wednesday morning at Santosa Hospital.

"Dr. Novilia was buried this afternoon in Cimahi, near her residence, using the COVID-19 protocol", said Dandi in Bandung, West Java, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 7.

The deceased is the Head of the Surveillance and Clinical Research Division at PT Bio Farma (Persero) and has contributed to the research of the Sinovac vaccine clinical trial since 2020.

In addition, Dr. Novilia is a lecturer with extraordinary or non-permanent status at the Faculty of Pharmacy from Padjadjaran University. For this reason, Dandi, who represented Padjadjaran University also expressed his condolences for the death of a figure who contributed to the handling of the current pandemic.

"She is one of the health fighters who has contributed greatly in overcoming this pandemic, especially in terms of clinical vaccine testing", said Dandi.

Apart from being a teacher, Dandi also said that Dr. Novilia was one of the best daughters who graduated from the leading university in West Java. According to Dandi, Dr. Novilia received her higher education at the Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University.

"Hopefully the traces of service left by her will be an inspiration to all of us, and the results of her hard work will be of benefit to us in dealing with this COVID-19 pandemic", said Dandi.
