MEDAN - Houses of worship in Medan will certainly remain open. However, Medan Mayor, Bobby Nasution, emphasized the obligation of strict health protocols.

"We convey that Medan City is still safe and can still carry out worship in their respective places. But still obey the procedures, for example, capacity does not exceed 50 percent, keep your distance, wear masks and so on", said Bobby Nasution at Medan City Hall, Wednesday, July 7th.

North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi previously issued a circular. According to the instructions, Medan and Sibolga are in category IV according to the results of the assessment, therefore special rules such as online learning are applied.

Then, offices implement 75 percent of working from home, and the implementation of worship in places of worship is temporarily suspended.

Meanwhile, Bobby Nasution said the role of regional heads such as sub-district head, village head to neighborhood head is very important. This is because their presence can be optimized to continue to monitor and disseminate health protocols to places of worship. There are 1,115 mosques in Medan.

Bobby Nasution said that his party had received instructions for tightening PPKM (Restrictions on Community Activities) from the Minister of Home Affairs. Then the Governor's instructions were forwarded and described in the Medan Mayor's Circular.

"There are several points in the circular, such as the limitation of economic operating hours until 17.00 WIB. In the red zone locations, 75 percent of the work from home and 25 percent go to the office", said Bobby Nasution.

"Some community activities, such as a celebration of a maximum of 30 people and no eating and drinking on the premises", he continued.

This PPKM tightening, continued Bobby Nasution, only shortened the time from the previous one which was until 20.00 WIB. For supervision, he continued, it remains as before.
