Joint Operation Searching For Victims Of KMP Yunicee Sinking Stopped

DENPASAR - The operation of the joint team to search for victims of the sinking of KMP Yuniceed in the waters of the Bali Strait has been stopped.

"We will stop the integrated search for those who are part of the joint SAR team. Because of the authority given to Basarnas, Basarnas has the authority to search for seven days," said Head of Bali Basarnas, Gede Darmada, Monday, July 5.

"The closure referred to here is a search by post. But the search independently in the form of monitoring is still ongoing. Only the post has been dissolved," he continued

The independent search in question is that Basarnas will assist in evacuating if the body of the KMP Yunicee victim is found.

"Yes, it means that if someone sees and finds it, we are ready to do another search to evacuate," he explained.

Based on the latest data, the number of people in KMP Yunicee is 77 people. While those who were not recorded in the manifest were 20 people.

"Where are the passengers listed in the manifest as 41 passengers. Then, the passengers who are not listed in the manifest are 20 people. (Among them) 12 crew members of the ship, and 4 canteen officers," he said.

Of the 77 people, 51 people survived. While the victim died 9 people and 17 people in the search.

"NTSC is investigating whether it needs to be lifted or not. Because of the problem of appointment according to applicable regulations. Later the NTSC or the national transportation safety commission will recommend to the company," he said.
