Bali Police Chief Reminds Nightclub Managers, Violating Emergency PPKM Will Be Penalized

DENPASAR - Bali Police Chief, Inspector General Putu Jayan Danu Putra, emphasized that there are criminal sanctions for nightclubs or discotheques that violate the Emergency Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM).

"Joint compliance is for the common interest, the sanction as agreed is that the Satpol PP can issue a ticket. We from the police can take minor crime actions, not only physical actions but also other administrative actions, for naughty nightclubs moreover, criminal sanctions can also be imposed", said Police Chief Putu in Denpasar, Bali, Monday, July 5.

In addition, the Police Chief explained that there were still many violations in the implementation of the emergency PPKM. It is suspected that the violation occurred because the emergency PPKM regulations have not been socialized.

"There are still many findings in the community that does not understand properly, so we continue to socialize to the community so that they really obey every rule that is conveyed in the Governor's Circular that must be obeyed together", he said.

According to him, if the emergency PPKM rules are not obeyed by the community, then everything will be useless. The goal of preventing the spread of COVID-19 is futile.

"If we don't (obeyed) this is useless because the provisions include restrictions on people, then the operational time of activity. Where, places that must be closed, please obey it", he said.

"Tourism sites should be closed, but last week we saw that there were still tourist attractions open. I have instructed Pecalang and the Indigenous Bendesa to comply with the Governor's Decree. If tourist attractions are closed there will be no movement of people, minimize it. Also in places selling food "The rule is to take away, don't eat on the spot, please obey it", continued Chief Putu.

Emergency PPKM in Bali is regulated according to the Decree of the Governor of Bali Number 9 of 2021. In letter h, the provision is that public facilities such as public areas, public parks, public tourist attractions, and other public areas are temporarily closed.
