DKI's Revenue Drops, DPRD Asks For Financial Assistance To The Central Government When Implementing Emergency PPKM

JAKARTA - Head of Commission A of the DKI DPRD, Mujiyono, asked the central government to help the DKI Provincial Government finance when the emergency PPKM implementation took effect. This is because Mujiyono admits that Jakarta's own regional revenue (PAD) is currently running low.

Because, if DKI implements an emergency PPKM with mobility restrictions and the closure of a number of activities, DKI's income to deal with the pandemic cannot develop.

"Our PAD realization is still minimal. If I'm not mistaken, as of May, the realization is still around 18 percent. If the central government doesn't provide financial assistance, we can't. Our PAD is down," said Mujiyono when contacted, Thursday, July 1.

Mujiyono considers that when the mobility of citizens is limited, it means that the local government must issue a budget for handling health and social safety nets.

The problem is that one of the local revenues comes from taxes. Meanwhile, many tax revenues have stalled, such as motor vehicle taxes to entertainment taxes.

"The biggest tax comes from the motor vehicle tax, which includes the entertainment tax. The entertainment tax is huge, but many entertainment venues are still closed," said Mujiyono.

"If DKI finances are sufficient, the central government permits, we can run emergency PPKM. But if the center does not help, the DKI economy will fall apart. Emergency PPKM will be difficult to carry out," he added.

For information, President Joko Widodo will announce the implementation of emergency PPKM as a substitute for micro PPKM with stricter restrictions. Currently, the regulations are being finalized.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartato each brought proposals regarding the rules for implementing emergency PPKM.

What is clear, it was decided that Luhut would lead the emergency PPKM in handling the pandemic in the provinces on the islands of Java and Bali. Meanwhile, Airlangga led the emergency PPKM outside Java and Bali.

Luhut proposed the emergency PPKM to be effective from July 3 to 20. Meanwhile, Airlangga proposed an emergency PPKM from July 2 to 20.

Regarding the implementation time and how the regulations will be applied thoroughly, Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said that until now there has been no official decision.

"Just waiting for the official announcement. What is clear is that until now there has been no official announcement. I appeal to you to continue to apply health protocols and not to carry out mobility if you don't need to," said Wiku to VOI, Wednesday, June 30 evening.
