Anies Baswedan's Request To Luhut When The Emergency PPKM Takes Effect

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Bawedan asked for four forms of support for handling COVID-19 from the central government when the emergency PPKM was implemented.

The government plans to implement an emergency PPKM. The handling of emergency PPKM in Java and Bali was led by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan.

In the presentation of a limited coordination meeting between the regional government and the central government yesterday, Anies first asked for support from the central government for tightening population mobility.

"A substantial and significant tightening of intra- and inter-regional population mobility can stop the spike in new cases and reduce active cases, with a bi-weekly cycle as recommended by epidemiologists," Anies said at a presentation at the meeting, quoted on Wednesday, June 30.

Second, Anies asked for additional health workers and support personnel from the central government. According to him, the health workers in the hospital can be met from students and lecturers.

"Professional field tracers need an additional 2,156 to reach 15-30 per 100,000 population. There are 5,139 additional vaccinators, namely 2,050 health workers and 3,089 non-nakes," said Anies.

Third, the need for regulation to support rapid antigen positive with moderate and critical symptoms can be handled in hospitals and claimed for financing.

Fourth, there is more intensive public communication regarding the safety, effectiveness, and halalness of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Separately, Anies said that the emergency PPKM plan as a substitute for micro PPKM has the main goal of saving the community from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This is a rescue effort, not just a limitation. So, don't think that restrictions are for restrictions. No. The goal is rescue. To carry out rescues, restrictions must be made," said Anies at DKI City Hall.

Anies said that today all levels of local government are still holding a coordination meeting for the preparation of emergency PPKM. In the meeting, the government discussed the provisions on the criteria for handling COVID-19 along with guidelines for its restrictions in each district/city.

"It's all being finalized today by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment as chairman of the handling in Java, so that later it will be announced throughout Java, not just for one or two locations," said Anies.
