Mayor Of Kendari Positive For COVID-19, Jokowi: Get Well Soon, Mayor

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo prays for Kendari Mayor Sulkarnain Kadir to recover soon and recover from COVID-19 which he experienced in the past week or so.

"Get well soon, Mr. Wali," said President Jokowi briefly, responding to the request of the Secretary of the Kendari City, Nahwa Umar, in a teleconference in Kendari, reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 30.

The President's prayer was delivered while reviewing the vaccination process in the courtyard of the Southeast Sulawesi Governor's Office at around 11.30 WITA.

The President was accompanied by the Governor of Southeast Sulawesi Ali Mazi, Deputy Governor Lukman Abunawas, and the Regional Secretary of the Southeast Sulawesi Province Nur Endang Abasburaerah.

Previously, during the event, the Kendari Regional Secretary, Nahwa Umar, reported that the Mayor of Kendari was exposed to COVID so he did not participate in the teleconference.

"Pray for the Mayor to get well soon, sir," said Nahwa to the President.

Nahwa also thanked the President for his working visit to this area. The people of Kendari City are very happy, sir," said Nahwa Umar.

Meanwhile, a day before the President's arrival in Kendari, the Mayor of Sulkarnain announced that he had been exposed to COVID-19.

In the mayor's statement, he stated that his condition was fine.

“This morning, we just had the opportunity to say hello to everyone, sorry for the last few days. We are focusing on recovering the condition and following a series of tests that must be passed and it is true that we have been confirmed positive for COVID-19," said Sulkarnain through a 1 minute 28 second video that circulated Tuesday, June 29.
