MEDAN - The North Sumatra Provincial Government has agreed to postpone the implementation of face-to-face learning in July. The postponement is due to the condition of the spread of COVID-19 which continues to increase.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Governor of North Sumatra (Vice Governor), Musa Rajeckshah (Ijeck) after a further coordination meeting for face-to-face learning preparations at schools, Wednesday 30 June in Medan.

"Today we have a meeting for a decision on face-to-face learning, and it has been decided together for the North Sumatra region, all districts/cities have agreed to postpone the face-to-face meeting from the schedule determined by the central government on July 12, 2021," said Ijeck.

Despite the delay, Ijeck ensures that online learning continues. The plan is that the North Sumatra Provincial Government will see the development of COVID-19 until August 2021.

"It has been postponed due to health and regional developments in the North Sumatra area until August will be announced again.

Learning, both new student admissions, is still carried out through online media and zoom," he said.

Education during the COVID-19 pandemic, said Ijeck, cannot walk alone. He did not want the face-to-face learning to become a new cluster for the spread of COVID-19.

"So in line with that, so that this vaccination can also be mass obtained by our community, especially now the President has said that it is permissible for teenagers aged 12-17 years to get vaccinated," he said.

Regarding the implementation of vaccination for children aged 12-17 years, Ijeck said that his party immediately prepared a vaccination procedure.

Currently, the North Sumatra Provincial Government is proposing to the Ministry of Health to increase the vaccine quota in the North Sumatra region.

"We want to propose this to the Ministry of Health, because we have been given a quota of approximately 2 million 500 vaccines with a population of 15 million. Especially with children, we are allowed to ask for an increase in this vaccine quota," said Ijeck.
