Golkar's Non-Supporting Attitude To The Amendment To The 1945 Constitution

JAKARTA - General Chairman of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto in his closing speech for the X National Conference (Munas) stated his party's stance on the amendment of the 1945 Constitution as a whole or in a limited manner.

As is well known, currently the discourse on amendments to the 1945 Constitution is currently being held in the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR). Initially, the limited amendments were planned only to revive the outlines of the state direction (GBHN).

However, over time this discourse widened to an additional three-term presidential term. Not only that, the spirit of amanden actually touched the Pandora box, namely returning the MPR as the highest institution to elect the president.

"In short, the Golkar party will not tinker with the 4 pillars in this period," he said, at the Golkar Party X National Conference, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Mega Kuningan, Jakarta, Thursday, December 5.

According to Airlangga, this is because Golkar realizes that Indonesia as the largest country in the ASEAN region is a political anchor that plays a strategic role. So, his party must support the government in maintaining the national situation.

"We must support government policies to maintain conducive national stability. Therefore, the Golkar Party highly appreciates the determination of Pak Jokowi (Joko Widodo) and Pak Ma'ruf Amin to be loyal to every vital reformation line, including maintaining the 1945 Constitution, NKRI, Bhinneka. Tunggal Ika and Pancasila, "he said.

Meanwhile, Jokowi, reflecting on these deviant proposals, he decided that an amendment to the 1945 Constitution was unnecessary.

"It's everywhere, as I said. So it's better, there's no need for amendments," Jokowi told reporters at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, Monday, December 2.

"We just concentrate on external pressures which are not easy to solve," he said.
