Puan Questions The Productivity And Burden Of The State Budget If ASN Retires At The Age Of 70

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, responded to the proposal to increase the retirement age for the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) to 70 years which was pushed into the revision of the ASN Law (RUU). According to Puan, the proposal needs an in-depth assessment.

"Regarding ASN to be extended, it should be studied further first," said Puan at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, May 25, afternoon.

Previously, Korpri suggested that the addition of the ASN pension age limit be extended, from 60 years to 62 to 70 years. The proposal for an extension of this retirement age is different according to the rank of each ASN.

Like the High Leadership Official or the Main JPT proposed to reach the age of 65 years, JPT Madya or echelon I reached the 63-year-old BUP (tiring age limit).

Then, JPT Pratama or echelon II level has a retirement age limit of 62 years, echelon III and IV 60 years, while for Main Functional Positions the retirement age limit reaches 70 years.

Regarding this proposal, Puan highlighted the productivity of ASN if the retirement age limit was increased.

"And is it true that if the productivity of the personnel is extended, it will be better. And the important thing is, how later the ASN can be more effective in serving the community," said Puan.

"And does the study already exist? What is the basis?" he added.

On the other hand, Puan emphasized that the addition of the ASN retirement age limit must also consider the posture of the state budget. "One more thing, don't burden the state budget later," said Puan.
