JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) is ready to distribute aid in the form of 10 units of emergency tents that can be used to accommodate positive confirmed COVID-19 patients, to the Malang Regency, East Java.

Social Minister Tri Rismaharini said that the tents were planned to be brought to the regions to anticipate a spike in positive COVID-19 confirmation cases if the referral hospital was full.

"Later I will send 10 tents, but hopefully they will not be filled (used)," said Social Minister Risma in Kanigoro Village, Pagelaran District, Malang Regency, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, June 29.

He added that each emergency tent had the capacity to treat 15 patients who were confirmed positive for COVID-19. Currently, the tents are in the process of being sent to Malang Regency.

In addition to the Malang Regency area, the Ministry of Social Affairs has also distributed emergency tents for handling COVID-19 to various other regions in Indonesia. Some of these areas include Solo, Ngawi, and Bekasi.

"Hopefully it will arrive tonight. We have also sent similar aid to Solo, Ngawi, including Bekasi. We will also check other areas that need it," he said.

The Ministry of Social Affairs sent emergency tent assistance to anticipate a spike in COVID-19 cases in various regions. Because, according to him, the current movement of the Delta variant of COVID-19 is quite dangerous.

"This Delta variant is very dangerous. So we must try to prevent this transmission from stopping," said Social Minister Risma.

Meanwhile, Malang Regent M Sanusi added that later the emergency tents assisted by the Ministry of Social Affairs would be placed in referral hospitals for handling COVID-19 in the Malang Regency area.

This assistance has directly increased the capacity of hospitals handling COVID-19 by 150 beds. Currently, the occupancy rate or Bed Occupancy Ratio (BOR) in Malang Regency reaches 90 percent.

"The tents will be placed in hospitals that are handling COVID-19, perhaps at UMM Hospital, Kepanjen Hospital, Lawang Hospital and also in Waa Husada, with a capacity of 15 people per tent," he said.

To date, in the Malang Regency area, there are 3,722 positive confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of the total, 3,411 people were reported to have recovered, 253 people were declared dead, and the rest were under treatment, said M Sanusi.
