The Student Executive Board of the University of Indonesia Not Afraid Of Impact After Jokowi's Criticism: Consequences Of Struggle

JAKARTA - The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the University of Indonesia (UI) has stated that it is not afraid of any repercussions after criticizing President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as the 'King of Lip Service'. For BEM UI, whatever happens, is a consequence of the struggle.

"Yes, that's right (not afraid). I think that's a consequence of the struggle", said Head of BEM UI, Leon Alvinda Putra, to VOI, Tuesday, June 29.

In addition, Leon emphasized that he would not mind the response that would emerge from Jokowi's supporters. Because according to him, it is everyone's right to have a different view.

"Even if there are those who are against it, I don't mind it's their right to have different opinions", said Leon.

Leon emphasized, all the criticisms conveyed were not without reason. BEM UI conveys criticism on the basis and facts that occurred.

"The important thing is that BEM UI has expressed our opinion and we already have a basis", he said.

BEM UI gave sharp criticism to President Joko Widodo by calling him the 'King of Lip Service'.

This criticism was shared on various social media belonging to BEM UI, from Twitter to Instagram. In his upload, the student executive body highlighted various promises made by Jokowi that were not kept and said that the former governor of DKI Jakarta often made promises.

"JOKOWI: THE KING OF LIP SERVICE. Hello, UI and Indonesia! Jokowi often sells his sweet promises, but the reality is often not in harmony. He said this, the fact was that", was quoted from the BEM MUI Instagram account.

Various promises ranging from the issue of revising the ITE Law to strengthening the KPK are considered inconsistent. "Everything indicates that the words that were uttered were nothing more than a mere form of lip service", they asserted.

In the aftermath of this upload, the Rectorate of the University of Indonesia summoned the BEM UI management on Sunday, June 28. 10 people were called, including the Head of BEM UI, Leon Alvinda Putra.
