Ministry Of Health Affirms Vaccination Hasn't Been A Requirement For Administration And Travel Services

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for vaccination from the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, emphasized that until now the government has not planned to make COVID-19 vaccination a condition for receiving administrative services.

"Until now, vaccination as proof of our administration has not carried out these requirements", said Nadia in a discussion broadcast on the Holopis Youtube Channel, Tuesday, June 29.

In addition, the COVID-19 vaccination has not yet become a requirement for people to travel using public transportation. Nadia emphasized that currently, the travel conditions are still using a negative COVID-19 test result.

"It seems that this vaccination has not yet been implemented as one of the requirements (travelers). What is certain is that we use PCR or rapid antigen for travel requirements", explained Nadia.

The discourse of vaccination as a condition of administration and travel services has indeed emerged. However, Nadia emphasized that at this time there had not been any decision regarding the plan.

"If someone says that currently, the vaccine certificate has become an administrative requirement, it is a hoax", she said.

Although it has not been implemented, the requirements for vaccination as an administrative service have been stated in Presidential Regulation Number 14 of 2021.

In Article 13A paragraph (4), it is stated that any person who has been designated as a target for COVID-19 vaccination who does not participate in vaccination may be subject to administrative sanctions in the form of delay or termination of social assistance, postponement, or termination of government administration services, and/or fines.

Meanwhile, the plan for vaccination as a condition of travel was brought up by the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, in a meeting with Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, March 15.

Budi said this discourse could be carried out if the people who received the vaccine had reached 30-40 percent of the total population. "We can talk about this later. If more people have been vaccinated, it might make sense", he said.
