ACEH - The city of Banda Aceh has left the COVID-19 red zone and entered the orange zone or an area with a moderate level of risk of transmission.
Banda Aceh Mayor Aminullah Usman said the change in risk level to orange was in line with the reduced number of residents in the capital city of Aceh Province who were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
"The rate of spread of COVID-19 is decreasing, so Banda Aceh, which was previously in the red zone, is now back in the orange zone," Aminullah Usman said in Banda Aceh as quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 24.
Even though he returned to the orange zone, Aminullah reminded and asked the people of Banda Aceh to continue to increase their vigilance and continue to be disciplined in implementing the prokes.
After this, Aminullah hopes that there will be no additional positive cases like what happened a few weeks ago, so that public activities can return to normal and continue to apply health protocols.
"The positive number of COVID-19 in the past week shows a downward trend. Two weeks ago the daily positive number was above 50 people, but now it's not that high anymore. However, we must remain vigilant," he said.
Aminullah continues to appeal to city residents to continue to be disciplined in wearing masks, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, and washing hands after activities outside the home.
"Please be disciplined in wearing a mask, use hand sanitizer instead of washing your hands, and please avoid crowds. We hope that the virus storm will pass quickly, amen," Aminullah said
As of today, the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Banda Aceh has reached 4,075 cases, of which 3,702 people have been declared cured, 226 are being treated and 147 people have died.
