Complaints Of Alleged Ethical Violations Rise Sharply, KPK Board Of Supervisors: This Is A Warning For Us

JAKARTA - Member of the Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Albertina Ho said, there was an increase in the number of complaints of alleged ethical violations in 2021 compared to 2020.

"For 2021, this is actually beyond our expectations, an extraordinary increase for ethical complaints," Albertina said at a press conference, Thursday, June 24.

He detailed that throughout 2020 there were 30 complaints. In addition, in the same year the number of complaints related to the implementation of the duties and authorities of the KPK received by the supervisory board reached 242 complaints.

Meanwhile, from 2021 to June, there have been 37 complaints related to alleged ethical violations.

Most of these complaints are submitted through letters submitted directly to the KPK Supervisory Board. However, there are also those who submit their complaints via email with the address [email protected].

With these conditions, Albertina thinks this should be a concern for the anti-corruption commission. Moreover, the number of complaints has increased significantly based on the detailed data.

"This may also be a warning for us fellow commissioners, why is this an ethical complaint that will increase greatly in 2021," he said.

"Is this because there is a lack of guidance or internalization of the code of ethics or what, really, so there is a sharp increase or it could be that the community is really now using the channels provided by the gods," said Albertina.
