Minister of Law and Human Rights is Waiting for Discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill in the DPR

JAKARTA - Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas stated that the government is waiting for the continuation of the discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill in the DPR. The Minister of Law emphasized that the government had an opinion on the draft regulation.

Supratman said the Asset Confiscation Bill was still in the stage of collecting public aspirations as part of the legislative process in the DPR because it was a parliamentary initiative proposal.

He asked the public to give space for the process of drafting regulations which are still ongoing, including the absorption of public aspirations which he said had been running for about two months.

"Later, whether there will be a government attitude? There must be. This has been two months of travel to collect people's aspirations," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 23.

Supratman said the government respected the discussion mechanism in the DPR and hoped that the legislative process could continue until the draft bill was completed.

"We are waiting for the DPR. From the side, if I see the seriousness of my friends in the Parliament now, the draft should be completed," he said.

Supratman said the Ministry of Law paid attention to all draft laws discussed with the DPR without distinguishing their priority level.

"Everything, for the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, is a concern. As long as it is in the government, in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights we never hold it," said Supratman.

He added that the government would convey its official stance according to the discussion mechanism after the legislative process entered the necessary stage.

Previously, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Saan Mustopa said his agency was trying to complete the Draft Law on Asset Confiscation this year. He emphasized that the bill was not removed from the list of National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) Priorities 2026.

"The DPR through Commission III which deals with law enforcement continues to receive public input through the public hearing forum (RDPU) in order to prepare the policy," he said.
