Mukomuko Regional Police Investigate 4 Illegal Logging Perpetrators, 215 Logs And Hino Trucks As Evidence

MUKOMUKO - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mukomuko Resort Police (Polres), Bengkulu, arrested four people suspected of committing a criminal act of illegal logging in the Forest Area of the Three Marga Mulya Settlement Units (SP), Air Rami District.

The perpetrators who were arrested had the initials AM (20), a resident of Rami Mulya Village, Mukomuko Regency, DK (17), a resident of Rami Mulya Village, Mukomuko Regency, WY (51), a resident of Sido Rejo Village, North Bengkulu Regency, and MO (42), residents of Argo Sari Village, Jambi Province.

The four perpetrators were arrested on Monday, June 21, after the police received information from the public. "That there is an activity of transporting timber forest products which are suspected to have come from a forest area in the Air Rami sub-district," said Mukomuko District Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Andy Arisandi as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 22.

He said the evidence that was secured was one unit of a green Hino Type Dutro130 HD/WU324R-HKMRBD3 truck with number BD 8859 AK and 215 logs of various sizes.

The police arrested four perpetrators of illegal logging in this area using Article 83 paragraph (1) letters a and b of Law Number 18 of 2013 concerning Prevention and Eradication of Forest Destruction.

The arrests were made by the Tipiter Unit after receiving information from the community that there was an activity of transporting timber forest products suspected to have come from forest areas in the Air Rami sub-district.

After receiving the information, he said, the Mukomuko Police Tipiter Unit immediately arrested the transporters of timber forest products. The officer asked for licensing documents related to the legality of origin and transportation permits for processed wood.

However, the carriers were unable to show the permit documents so the officers took them, including wood evidence, to the Mukomuko Police Station.
