JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria stated that the emergency brake policy in line with the increase in COVID-19 was the authority of the Central Government because the micro PPKM policies implemented so far always refer to decisions from the Center.

"In the past, the authority was in the regions (so you could pull the emergency brake). Now the authority is at the center, there are regulations," said Riza at the Jakarta City Hall, as reported by Antara, Monday, June 21.

According to Riza, this arrangement from the central government was implemented in the context of good coordination, synchronization, harmonization, and cooperation between regions to control the spread of COVID-19.

"Since the existence of PPKM everything has been coordinated through the Central Government and it is very good so that between regions can help each other and can help synergize well. So once again, this micro PPKM is a good policy with good coordination between local governments," said Riza.

Riza continued that his party will follow what has been decided by the central government through the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto regarding efforts to prevent and control COVID-19 cases.

The limitation on the capacity of community activities and operating hours, he said, would be more or less the same as what Airlangga had said.

"What has been conveyed by the Coordinating Minister, Mr. Airlangga, will be more or less what we will put into the Governor Regulation. We are waiting for the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs as a reference or basis. God willing, the Minister of Home Affairs (Instruction) will come out tomorrow," said Riza.

"DKI Jakarta will follow the policies and decisions taken by the Central Government," he added.
