COVID-19 Goes Crazy, Malls Close At 20.00 WIB, Restaurant Capacity Is Restricted

JAKARTA - The implementation of Micro-Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) has been strengthened again according to the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The strengthening will be carried out for two weeks starting from June 22 to July 5.

The strengthening will be stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs and will regulate several things. Among them are related to the operation of business premises, especially restaurants to street food vendors.

"For dine-in activities, at most 25 percent of capacity and the rest take away (eating out)", said Chairman of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN), Airlangga Hartarto, in a press conference broadcast on Presidential Secretariat YouTube, Monday, June 21.

Meanwhile, the delivery service is adjusted to the operating hours of restaurants and street food vendors which are limited to 20.00 hours.

These restrictions on operating hours and visitors also apply to malls or shopping centers.

"Activities in shopping centers, malls, markets, and trading centers have maximum operating hours of up to 20.00 hours and limit visitors to a maximum of 25 percent of capacity", explained the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs.

Furthermore, Airlangga said that essential sectors such as industry, market services, public utilities, national vital projects, supermarkets, pharmacies can still operate. As long as it is adjusted to operating hours, capacity, and the implementation of strict health protocols.

As previously reported, the implementation of restrictions during the strengthening of Micro PPKM is also carried out in office activities in ministries/agencies as well as BUMN and BUMD.

For offices of ministries/agencies, BUMN (State-Owned Corporation), and BUMD (Regionally-Owned Enterprises) in the red zone, 75 percent of work from home (WFH) is applied. Meanwhile, for those in the non-red zone, 50 percent is applied and alternated.

Meanwhile, seminars and meetings in the red zone must be carried out online until the conditions for the spread of COVID-19 are declared safe. For zones outside the red zone, it is permitted to be carried out offline but is limited to 25 percent of capacity.
