Many Hospitals Accused Of Deliberately Diagnosing Patients With COVID-19, This Is The Hospital Association's Explanation

JAKARTA - The All-Indonesian Hospital Association (PERSI) denies that there are patients who were deliberately sentenced to COVID-19 by hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic. PERSI emphasized that the hospital has strict rules for diagnosing patients exposed to COVID-19.

Persi Secretary-General, Lia G Partakusuma, said hospitals had to attach many supporting documents to convey that someone had COVID-19.

"There are very strong rules when a patient is determined or diagnosed as COVID-19. Hospitals must attach lots of supporting documents to convey that this is COVID-19", She said during a virtual discussion, Sunday, June 20.

Therefore, according to Lia, people should not feel that if the diagnosis of COVID-19 will definitely be claimed by the hospital as a COVID patient. Because she said, it is also not certain.

Lia appealed to the public to put their trust in hospitals and medical personnel, including doctors, that doctors will treat and diagnose according to the patient's condition. This includes COVID-19.

Lia explained, at the beginning there were obstacles in diagnostics which took a long time to determine whether someone had COVID-19 or not. In large hospitals or with complete laboratory facilities, he said, the patient diagnosis process can be carried out very quickly.

"The name of the lab examination depends on the individual. So it's not like one person is tested negative today, then one week later it is negative. There is even a process where the replication of the virus takes time. There may be symptoms but the diagnostic tool has not detected it", explained Lia.

Thus, said Lia, there are many things that can cause the diagnostic results to have a deficiency that may not have been discovered at that time, but was discovered at another time.

"I think the term COVID-19 is an individual. We never wanted any hospital to have COVID-19. Hopefully, no hospital wants to have COVID-19", she said.
