The AGO Prepares 2 Scenarios For The Return Of Adelin Lis From Singapore

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) has prepared two scenarios to repatriate the convict of corruption and illegal logging cases, Adelin Lis to Indonesia. Currently Adelin Lis is still under the control of the Singaporean authorities.

"The first scenario, we do the pick-up by renting a charter plane," said Kepuspenkum AGO Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak to reporters, Thursday, June 17.

For the second scenario, Leonard continued, repatriation of fugitives by commercial aircraft, Garuda Indonesia airline.

The two scenarios have been prepared since the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryopratomo, wrote to the Attorney General ST Burhanuddin on June 4.

"Adelin's pick-up time is scheduled for June 14 to June 20, 2021," Leonard said.

However, the repatriation effort was delayed because Adelin's son, through his lawyer, wrote to the North Sumatra High Court on June 16. They asked for permission for Adelin to return to Medan without being picked up by the prosecutor's office.

"By requesting that Adelin Lis be allowed to return to Medan alone and will come to the Medan District Attorney," said Leonard.

Adelin Lis is a fugitive in corruption and illegal logging cases. At that time he was the Director of PT Keang Nam Development Indonesia who had been sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Supreme Court in 2008.

In addition, Adelin Lis was also fined Rp. 1 billion and a substitute money of Rp. 119.8 billion and a reforestation fund of US$2.938 million.

Adelin has been running from Indonesia since November 2007. In 2018, she was arrested by the Singaporean authorities for a passport forgery case. A Singapore court then sentenced him to pay a fine of 14,000 Singapore dollars and be deported.
