COVID-19 Cases In Jakarta Are Getting Crazy, The Second Highest During The Pandemic, Most From East Jakarta

JAKARTA - The new case of COVID-19 in DKI Jakarta has reached 4.144 cases today. This figure is the second-highest during the pandemic. Previously, the highest new cases occurred on February 7 with 4.213 cases.

Head of Disease Prevention and Control Division, DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office, Dwi Oktavia said this figure was obtained from the examination of 23.913 specimens,

"As is known, the number of positive cases has recently been in the range of 1.000–2.000 cases a day. However, today, Thursday, the number has jumped rapidly to reach 4.144 cases", said Dwi in her statement, Thursday, June 17.

In detail, today there were 5 additional positive cases in the Thousand Islands, West Jakarta 824 cases, Central Jakarta 490 cases, South Jakarta 932 cases, East Jakarta 1.370 cases, and North Jakarta 523 cases.

The districts with the highest number of cases include Cengkareng with 205 cases, Duren Sawit with 189 cases, Cipayung with 177 cases, and Jagakarsa with 172 cases.

Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed cases in Jakarta to date is 458.815 cases. Of the total number of positive cases, a total of 428.487 people were declared cured, and a total of 7.717 people died with a mortality rate of 1.7 percent, while Indonesia's death rate was 2.8 percent.

Dwi continued, the number of active cases in Jakarta today increased by 2.300 cases, so the number of active cases to date is 22.611 people who are still being treated or isolated.

"Of the number of active cases, 25 percent are people without symptoms, 35 percent have mild symptoms, 30 percent have moderate symptoms, and 10 percent have severe and critical symptoms", said Dwi.

Furthermore, Dwi explained that DKI Jakarta's tracking ratio for the month of June was 7.9. This means that 1 positive case is traced to at least 8 close contacts.

"We have also increased testing, where the number of tests on June 16, 2021, is already 10.8 times the minimum standard set by WHO for Jakarta", she said.

Then, currently, the occupancy of isolation beds is 84 percent of the total 8.524 beds prepared. Then, filled with 74 ICU beds from 1.186 beds prepared.

"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will also continue to coordinate with the Central Government in preparing controlled self-isolation facilities spread across a number of areas, such as the use of Sports Centers and Flats", she concluded.
