SURABAYA - The East Java Provincial Government will continue to carry out Face-to-face Learning (PTM), according to the initial plan on July 5. Later the PTM will be held according to zoning, depending on the high and low cases of COVID-19 in each region.
"The reference in the PTM trial later will be the zone status in an area in East Java", said Deputy Governor of East Java, Emil Elestianto Dardak, in Surabaya, Thursday, June 17.
Emil said that the East Java Provincial Government had not received further direction from the central government regarding the PTM. For this reason, the PTM will still be held according to the central government's plan.
"Of course with full caution and see the development of existing cases", he said.
According to him, the status of this zone is not at the district level, but at the sub-district level. In Bangkalan district, for example, although the number of COVID-19 cases is high, if it is monitored per sub-district, not all sub-districts are red zones.
In Bangkalan, there are four districts with red zone status. Namely, Bangkalan, Arosbaya, Geger and Klampis.
"So, it's not per district and that becomes a reference for determining the level of the PTM risk. So in this case we will look not at zones per district but per district", he said.

In holding the PTM trial, Emil said he would consider several things. Such as the level of vaccination of teaching staff, as well as the readiness of educational facilities and infrastructure.
In addition, Emil admitted that he was still waiting for directions regarding whether the PTM would still be enforced two or four hours per day or twice a week. "We want to make sure that, we also match it with the existing guidelines", he said
