BPS Biringkanaya Makassar Minimarket Burner Arrested, Heartache Asked For Compensation Of IDR 6 Million

MAKASSAR - The South Sulawesi Police finally uncovered and arrested the perpetrators of the minimarket arson in the Bumi Permata Sudiang (BPS) Housing Area, Biringkanaya District, Makassar City.

"The person with the initials SFP was arrested after an investigation was carried out on the Indomaret minimarket management report related to the fire," said Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Police, Kombes E Zulpan, in Makassar, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, June 16.

The motive for the minimarket burning, he said, was because the perpetrator, who was an employee of the minimarket, felt hurt and annoyed that he was asked to compensate for his loss while working there as a supervisor.

"The minimarket suffered a loss, and was asked to replace it for Rp. 6 million. Out of heartache, one night he came alone with the key and opened the shop and went into the warehouse and then took money in the safe worth Rp. 58 million," said Zulpan

To cover up his actions, the 21-year-old actor then set fire to a mini market using gasoline. According to the results of the investigation of the crime scene (TKP) of the South Sulawesi Police Foresics Laboratory, there was a liquid that triggered the fire, including the fingerprints he left behind.

The perpetrator had planned the action, after leaving his rented house on Jalan Arung Sanrego on Wednesday (9/6) at around 21.30 WITA using a motorbike, then stopping to buy bottled gasoline on Jalan Gowa Ria, heading to the minimarket where he works.

The gasoline is then transferred to a mineral water bottle. At 04.15 WITA, the perpetrator arrived, then stored his motorbike behind the shop to avoid CCTV footage, but it was still recorded when he arrived at the location.

"He closed the action by pouring gasoline on the baby's diaper rack and then burning it with a lighter, as if it was a fire. According to Indomaret, the loss was around Rp. 800 million. The arrest of the suspect was in accordance with the analysis, because there were CCTV footage and statements from witnesses," he said.

The results of interrogation by investigators, the perpetrator admitted that he carried out the action alone, and had planned his actions, but was later found out after an investigation was carried out.

"He has been detained at the South Sulawesi Regional Police to undergo an examination due to his actions," said the middle officer of the National Police.

Previously, there was a fire at the Indomaret minimarket in the BPS Housing area, Biringkanaya District, Makassar City on June 10, 2021, early in the morning. Firefighters managed to put out the fire nearly two hours later. The suspected source of the fire after the incident was due to a short circuit, but the police investigated, it turned out to be deliberately set on fire.
