Rp250 Million Furniture Thief In Rubber Kuningan Luxury Apartment Arrested

JAKARTA - Setiabudi Metro Police, South Jakarta arrested two renovation workers suspected of stealing all household furniture worth around Rp250 million in a luxury apartment unit in the Karet Kuningan area.

"Seeing the apartment unit next door was empty, they carried out the theft," said Setiabudi Police Commissioner, Rinaldo Aser, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 14.

The two perpetrators, with the initials F, were arrested in the Setiabudi area, South Jakarta on Monday, June 7, and B was arrested on Tuesday, June 8 in Meruya, West Jakarta.

Rinaldo explained that the two suspects got a job renovating an apartment unit which happened to be next to the unit and it was known that there were no occupants.

The two then pry out the back window through the apartment unit being renovated.

They then one by one gradually took the furniture in the apartment unit since March 2021 without provoking suspicion from security officers.

Rinaldo said the two perpetrators reasoned to the officers that the items were items from the renovated unit.

"Therefore, they are free to go in and out of the apartment carrying stolen goods," he said.

There were also items stolen, including electronic items, including laptops and room temperature controllers (AC), which have been sold through online applications.

In addition, all household furniture was stolen until the unit was empty, including a refrigerator, a set of wardrobe, two mattresses, a table, chairs, stove, paintings, sofas, make-up equipment, golf sports equipment, toasters and flower vases.
