Minister Of Health: Indian Virus Variants Dominate COVID-19 In Jakarta, Kudu And Bangkalan

JAKARTA - Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin confirmed that the variant of the COVID-19 virus, namely B1617.2 from India, was found in Jakarta, Kudus Regency, Central Java and Bangkalan Regency, Madura, East Java.

"Some areas such as Kudus, then DKI Jakarta and also in Bangkalan have confirmed the delta variant or B 1617.2 or also this variant from India that dominates," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 14.

With these developments, the Minister of Health hopes that the acceleration of vaccination can be accelerated in accordance with President Joko Widodo's orders.

"Because of this, the transmission is faster, although not more deadly. In order to accelerate the acceleration of vaccination, President Jokowi asks that 700,000 vaccinations per day this month can be touched," he said.

Furthermore, the target of 1 million vaccinations per day in July 2021 is also requested to be implemented.

"For this reason, he has assigned the TNI and Polri to assist together with the vaccination program through the local government to be able to vaccinate up to 400 thousand per day so that 600 thousand per day will go through the local government channel, while 400 hundred thousand per day will be carried out through the local government channel. The Minister of Health stated that President Jokowi directed that the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) could also be carried out correctly.
