Going Home To Bodetabek Is Still Permitted, But Must Be Obedient

JAKARTA - The government has prohibited all levels of society from going home as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This rule is considered confusing because the ban only applies to destinations outside Jabodetabek.

Meanwhile, for areas supporting the capital, the prohibition does not apply. The people of Jakarta are allowed to go home for Lebaran to Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Bodetabek), or vice versa.

The Head of the Police Corps Ops, Kombes Benyamin said that people who want to go home to local must obey all the existing rules, namely, prioritizing large-scale social restrictions (PSBB).

Limiting the number of passengers in one vehicle to the use of masks is a rule that must be obeyed. That way, efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 will continue.

"You can (go home to Jabodetabek), there is no problem with that," said Benyamin, Thursday, May 14.

However, regarding the sanctions for those who violate, Benyamin cannot say much. This is because this has entered into the realm of the relevant local governments which have their respective types of sanctions

"Yes, in such a PSBB environment, the issue of sanctions will be left to the respective regional governments," concluded Benyamin.

Public Policy Analysis Trubus Rahadiansyah said, the emergence of leniency for going home in the Jabodetabek area seemed to confuse the public. Moreover, the rules that have been made and implemented since some time ago are not strict.

The confusion referred to is the difference between the rules for implementing the PSBB in these regions. Thus, it is possible that there will be an increase in the number of violators in enforcement of the homecoming rules.

"It is very confusing for the community. If you want to be prohibited (going home), then you will continue to forbid it," said Trubus.

In addition, leniency about going home can also increase the potential for the spread of COVID-19. The reason is that the people of Jakarta, which are the areas with the most distribution rates, can go to these areas.

In fact, a bigger impact will also occur, namely, people in other areas who feel they are not being cared for in the future can ignite negative movements or so on.

"Obviously it will increase the potential for the spread of COVID-19. It is possible that people outside the region feel discriminatory so that unwanted things emerge," concluded Trubus.
